Cannabinoid CB2 radioligands for PET imaging of neuroinflammation in Alzheimer's disease
Development of radioligands for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of the cannabinoid receptors subtype 2 (CB2) is of great importance for imaging of neuroinflammation in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Huntington's and for studying the role of the cannabinoid system in a variety of other disorders that are associated with neuroinflammation (multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia, HIV). Developing CB2 PET radiotracers will also allow for monitoring the efficacy of medications to treat these conditions.
