Klotho is an anti aging protein that when found in larger than normal amounts in mice it extends life span and causes the mice to be more healthy and resistant to oxidative stress. In contrast, mice who lack Klotho show all signs of human aging and die prematurely. We found that Klotho is decreased in the aged brain and here are proposing to discover drugs that would increase the levels of Klotho for a longer and healthier life.
